From my studio notes about this painting...
June 6, 2013. MV studio, night.

 #1, June 2013. Title, “Stele”
The text—
“Everything broken never gets fixed
Everything lost never gets found
Everything born always gets dead
Every sunrise always gets set
Every night always gets dawn
The is gets naught’d
The naught gets is’d
And the circle of time is forever.”

Begun on the last day in the Lac O studio, completed here at MV with the last bit, the flowering seeding plants… “They won’t stop.”

And out of the crack in the stone at the corner of the base, the weeds, they come again.

Maybe it will be a philosophical statement? …not the logical positivisms of language I learned as a student at Berkeley, but only the truths I have learned and know about living and dying.
